Malwinder Jit Singh Waraich was born on 21st November 1929 at Village Ladhewala Warraich, Distt. Gujranwala (Pakistan) and presently resides at village Saketri, Distt. Panchkula. He acquired Master’s degrees in English, History, Political Science, Economics and Sociology from Panjab University, Chandigarh. After teaching Humanities in Guru Nanak Engineering College, Ludhiana for thirty years, he retired in November 1989. Then he did LL.B from Kurukshetra University as a regular student and handled murder cases in Hon’ble Punjab and Haryana High Court where through Public Interest petitions he succeeded in getting the Kuka Movement, Ghadr Party, Komagata Maru and Jalianwala Bagh martyrs official recognition as episodes of freedom struggle besides getting the freedom fighters’ lands, confiscated by government, returned to their kin. He got in touch with Baba Sohan Singh Bhakna on 6th June 1966. After that he became a life long Munshi of the Ghadri Babas. His first book, Baba Sohan Singh Bhakna’s autobiography “Jeewan Sangram” was published in 1967 after translating it from Urdu into Punjabi; till now he has published about fifty books on revolutionaries in English, Punjabi as well as in Hindi and this process continues unabated. He has also authored a gallery of revolutionary struggles “National Gallery of Portraits — 1857-1947”, which is located behind Central State Library, Sector 17, Chandigarh.
